Karate Self-Defense: Clear. Effective. Practical.
Karate-Selfdefense-Training — What we mean by karate-based self-defense
For us, self-defense means resolving acute problems quickly and effectively. In an emergency situation – while respecting the principle of proportionality – anything necessary to ward off danger is permitted.
We use existing karate know-how as a solid foundation and deliberately expand it with additional effective self-protection techniques. Because karate is far more than just sport or tradition: it is one of the oldest combat systems in the world – and at its core, a highly effective form of self-defense.
To convey this potential, we offer two systematically structured KARATE SELF-DEFENSE seminar courses: an:
- Basic-Level – for solid fundamentals, confident understanding, and realistic entry-level techniques
- Expert Level – for advanced concepts, adaptable applications, and challenging self-protection scenarios
- KARATE SELFDEFENSE BASICS
- KARATE SELFDEFENSE EXPERT
- WOMAN SELFDEFENSE
KARATE SELFDEFENSE BASICS
The Basic-Level lays the foundation for effective and practical Karate Selfdefense. It is designed for motivated beginners, ambitious advanced students, and instructors who are looking for a clear, hands-on approach to self-defense in karate. This level focuses on raising awareness of fundamental principles such as distance control, timing, target selection, posture, and energy use – and translating them into effective, immediately applicable techniques.
We combine classical karate techniques with modern methodological approaches, guided by real-world threat scenarios: verbal confrontations, physical assaults, and unexpected attacks. Participants learn to recognize dangerous situations early, respond with composure, and gain control using simple, functional means.
Particular emphasis is placed on clear instruction, repeatability, and building genuine confidence in action. This creates a solid entry point into karate self-defense – one that protects, empowers, and works when it really matters.

KARATE SELFDEFENSE EXPERT
Karate is our art of self-defense!
The Expert Level builds on these foundations and is aimed at advanced karateka, instructors, and black belts who wish to deepen their understanding and expand their repertoire. In this level, we work with more complex application models, variable movement strategies, and the intentional inclusion of stress, speed, and pressure. The content ranges from advanced applications of classical kata techniques to tactics for multiple threat scenarios and decision-making under time constraints.
At the core is karate self-defense as a living, adaptable system that goes beyond technical training – it’s about responsiveness, clarity, and composure in real-world threat situations. Topics such as improvisation, de-escalation, situational behavior, and assessing proportionality are trained in a concrete, hands-on manner.
The goal of this level is not just to perform karate self-defense, but to truly understand it, apply it appropriately to the situation, and pass it on responsibly – regardless of style, belt rank, or training environment.

Stronger together: Self-defense at eye level – by women, for women
This module is specifically designed for women who want to learn, deepen, and pass on effective self-defense within karate. In a safe, respectful, and empowering training environment, experienced female instructors teach content from both levels of our KARATE-SV series – tailored to the needs and perspectives of women.
Basic Level: Safety begins in the mind
In the Basic Level, the focus is on teaching fundamental skills: self-assertion, confident body language, distance awareness, danger recognition, and simple yet effective techniques. The goal is to build a sense of security through knowledge, movement, and conscious self-awareness. Participants develop confidence in their ability to act and practice realistic responses to common threat scenarios.
Expert Level: Capable of action in complex situations
The Expert Level expands the repertoire with tactical behavior, situational decision-making under stress, and adaptable applications of classical karate techniques. It’s about self-defense with depth: dynamic, thoughtful, and practical for everyday life. The training remains fully accessible – even for women without years of karate experience – and is guided by the real-world challenges women may encounter in daily life.
